We stand on common ground

I'm David Weatherspoon and I'm running to represent Tennessee State Senate District 31 with steadiness, compassion, and courage — and to return neighborliness to our statehouse.

My Vision for TN-31

This campaign begins with a simple belief: we stand on common ground.

Our communities deserve leadership that listens first, speaks with honesty, and works to bring people together rather than push them apart. At a time when division is loud, our campaign is built on steadiness, compassion, and courage.

As a chaplain, a neighbor, a husband, and a father, I believe public service begins with care for others. Government should reflect the best of who we are - hospitality, decency, and a commitment to the common good.

Meet David

I grew up on a farm in Hickman County, Tennessee. While attending Belmont University in Nashville, where I double majored in religion and education, I developed a love and passion for the study and discipline of caring for my neighbors.

A few years later, I was ordained and on my way to seminary in Atlanta at Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology, where I received my Master of Divinity and my Doctor of Ministry degrees.

My education led me to pursue a career as a college chaplain at Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana, and eventually a pediatric chaplain here in Tennessee.

My campaign is built on the understanding that good government begins with deep listening, that leadership requires both compassion and courage, and that our shared values matter more than partisan division.
